The flames rose around him like a living crown.

The ancient white dragon twisted its enormous body through the burning chamber, its scales reflecting the orange glow of the fire. In the middle of the chaos, the young guardian remained suspended above the flames, his white-and-gold robes moving with the heat.

His hand tightened around the ancient sword.

For the first time, he understood the truth.

The sword had never chosen him because he was the strongest.

It had chosen him because he was the last one who could break the curse.

Behind him, the dragon lowered its head. Its golden eyes met his.

"You finally remember."

Memories flooded through his mind: the fallen guardians, the forgotten kingdom, the blood spilled by the royal family, and the ancient promise that had bound the dragon to the throne.

But there was one memory he had never been allowed to see.

The guardian himself had been part of the royal bloodline.

He was not merely protecting the kingdom.

He was its rightful heir.

The door behind him exploded open.

The king entered, surrounded by soldiers.

“Put down the sword!” he commanded. “You have no idea what power you are holding.”

The young man slowly turned.

“I know exactly what it is.”

The flames suddenly changed.

They no longer burned him.

Instead, they gathered around his body, forming golden wings of fire.

The king stepped backward in fear.

“No…”

The guardian raised the sword.

“You spent generations hiding the truth,” he said. “You sacrificed the guardians. You imprisoned the dragon. You turned an entire kingdom into a lie.”

The dragon roared.

The walls began to shake.

“And tonight,” the guardian continued, “the lie ends.”

He drove the sword into the stone floor.

A brilliant light erupted from the blade, spreading through the entire chamber. The fire consumed the ancient symbols carved into the walls, while the chains binding the dragon shattered one after another.

For a moment, everything became silent.

Then the dragon rose.

Its enormous wings opened above the burning palace.

The curse was broken.

The king fell to his knees.

And the young guardian stood before him, no longer a servant, no longer a forgotten protector.

A king without a crown.

The dragon lowered itself beside him.

“You are the last guardian,” it whispered.

He looked toward the burning kingdom.

“No,” he answered.

He climbed onto the dragon's back and looked toward the horizon, where the first light of dawn was beginning to appear.

“I was the last guardian of the old world.”

The dragon spread its wings.

“Now I will protect the new one.”

With one powerful movement, they rose into the sky.

Below them, the palace disappeared beneath the flames.

Above them, the darkness began to fade.

And as the sun finally touched the horizon, the ancient sword began to glow one last time.

A new chapter had begun.

The kingdom had lost its guardian.

But it had finally found its true king.
